There are actually two printed circuits on the cluster. For 87 and 88 model years they should be D on the larger one and A for the smaller. I *think* a DD will work in a 89 but I can't remember. That's kinda right when they made changes.
You say none of the gages work? Different gages use...
You're not going to hurt anything by dumping a bit of HC. Just don't let anyone see you doing it. You could blow some air through it just for grins but if you bring them an open system they'll be none the wiser and even if they are they're not going to care because they won't be using their...
Chris, who knows. You had to have mis-measured something but it's not important. As long as it does what suprabad said *and* doesn't set a code 41 it's all good.
And yeah, iirc it's the bottom two pins. You have to be careful though because the book is wrong or at least confusing. Just another...
First off ES12 is illegal. It's not an approved refrigerant under the EPA's Snap Program. Butane or propane blows cold too but would you put it in there? I would've used an alternate like Freeze 12 before I used an HC blend. At least F-12 is 80% 134 even though it has it's own issues.
If...
No, a shop won't touch it now and expect to get beat up over on that forum for using ES 12. I should beat on you too but I won't. It does appear the oil wasn't needed. Why didn't you do a flush and just convert to 134 after doing all that work?
Very likely yes. As I said the OEM filter is based upon a proven Bosch design I'm familar with. I'm not saying I would absolutely refuse to use a reputable aftermarket filter (perhaps WIX or Purolator) just that, generally speaking, I don't accord the same quality to aftermarket parts as I do...
Just to be clear if I had to go in there for some reason even I'd change it. Kinda dumb not to. However doing it just for grins is imo almost as dumb. And that the OP's was (supposedly) bad doesn't in any way make the filter "lifetime, my ass". One sample, and not even a good one at that...
Yeah, I'm pretty much sick of the thing. I've only kept it this long because it's reliable, cheap to own, and makes me money but it's time for something different.
Now that I read the post in it's entirety I don't believe the PCFs are the same on those clusters. Look for a big double digit number on the back. Something Like "DD". If they're not the same you'll need to swap them.
Ground point D: JB #1 set bolt. Also B: Intake manifold. Depends on the gage. Also, every circuit in the car except those on B have redundant ground points.
^ Lmao. Let 'em do it I say. Keeps guys like me who do AC work on the side in spending money.
Razo: Maybe so but such lacklaster performance will result in it taking much longer time to get there...
Keep in mind I never said the stuff doesn't work but "work" is relative. Blaster is mass marketed and there are always products used in specialty industries that usually beat mass marketed ones. I prefer a couple of aerospace products called ACF-50 and Corrosion X. Both are designed for...
It's possible to have an open IDL contact and not have a code only if the wiring is shorted or the ECU bad. You must have measured wrong. Not that it matters...as long as the ECU is happy it's all moot.
Just though it was ironic you could have found out in a tenth of the time it took you to type that post. Blaster is sold in California. I see it in stores all the time. I don't use it though.
Good grief Hommer. And you claim to be a professional mechanic? You actually do this for a living?
Razo: As pointed out 134 is not miscible in mineral oil.
The Internet is more than a global pornography network you know:

It's a mediocre product. There are better penetrants out there.
1) What you're seeing in the sight glass is completely normal.
2) No, a TXV system normally does not cycle. It can be shut off by some things though. You're thinking of systems that use an orifice tube instead of a TXV.
3) There is nothing in a stock MKIII AC system that will shut the clutch...
