I'll take a look tomorrow and see if they did infact weld to the crank. I can compare it to my crank out of my other motor. It does look like in some of the pics that there is a line on it, but I looked at it after seeing that in the pics and I think it's just the rod reflecting in the crank...

The car ran perfect up till the time I thought it had spun the bearing, the oil looked clean, and there is no metal shavings or anything in the oil pan.

Nightshade, clear, polish. That's how I would do it, I did it on my old car but never got around to clearing them and polishing them.
