Uphill battle: Supra Mark III vs. Pontiac Solstice

Barkz, that 5th gear pull ability at highway speeds is by far one of my favorite aspects of a stock turbo setup on a Supra. It's great to just be lazy and let the load build up on that engine and boost away. :D

Polyurethane Trans mounts for an 89' supra?

Ahh... I don't have a 7m, so I never venture into that part of the forum. I'm in agreement with you on this one, the day I see a 1000hp put through an A340 without it exploding is the day I see crocodiles fly. Then it won't matter cause we're all fucked, there's flying crocodiles on the loose! :)

    Sluggish Starts

I almost ALWAYS got better mileage with my 88 n/a in sport mode. Remember, these are heavy cars, and you gotta get a little torque out of the engine to get it going. I always found that a brisk pace of acceleration from a stop (as traffic allows) returned the best mileage. Being turbo though, I...

SupraMania: What Do Yo Do? Who Are You In Life?

Is this another one of those "one of these things is false" games Joe? :biglaugh:

Polyurethane Trans mounts for an 89' supra?

Most people making significant power through an auto usually just get a GM transmission. :) Although I would think they would have to have custom mounts made anyway, no? I can see where you might think he's using the A340E...

    Oil pressure sender removal tool?

Alright guys, update time! First of all, I was completely mistaken about there being a nut on the back (block) side of the stock oil pressure sender. Well, there *is* a nut on the back, but it's tiny, way smaller than sender itself. I'm not sure what I was feeling when I was reaching in there...

    N/A at the dragstrip

Don't wait for the green, wait for the last yellow to let out the clutch and launch. ;) That said, seems about on par with what an n/a should do. I wonder if I couldn't tow an n/a behind me and get that sort of time though haha... anyway, shouldn't this be in the racing section?

Uphill battle: Supra Mark III vs. Pontiac Solstice

Same problem here Suitcase, everybody thinks their car is the fastest thing in the world. Gonna be putting quite a bit into my car next year and thinking it would be funny to rice it out. Obscenely rice it out, and put in big bold letters "YOU DON'T HAVE A CHANCE" on the back window. But the...

    1JZ Idle Weird,Please Help!

Heh, my car did that for a bit. Your ISCV is likely shot/stuck, or improperly wired. Here's a test for ya: unplug your iscv and have someone start the car. As soon as you start it, plug it back in. If I remember correctly, this should return you to a normal idle... Been damn near a year now...

    Oil pressure sender removal tool?

Hey guys, in the process of putting in an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. Have done a good bit of research, got the DM adapter line, and have moved the a/c compressor forward. Tried to remove the compressor but it's not gonna cooperate if I leave the radiator in so it's going back on once I get...

    Pre-1JZ drop in checklist

I still say better safe than replacing turbo coolant lines in the middle of a snowy winter. Like I said, anything that's rubber, it's likely 20 years old. Mileage is bad enough on rubber, but time is much worse...

    Just returned

Sorry to hear that man, military? Most of what you're gonna need to do has been covered above, but I might offer a caution... someone correct me if I'm wrong, but can't seals dry up if they're not somewhat frequently exposed to fluids? I'd be wary of leaks myself. Then again I flew down to...

    Carbon Fiber

Is it just a CF skin where the top of the car would be on the standard metal targa panel? Or is the structure of the thing also made of CF? The stock one only weighs what, 25-30lbs tops? Only time I've ever had trouble with it is when the Wyoming wind is blowing like crazy, and I'm not all that...

    Limequat's 4.2l I6 Swap

Dammit Customs, you beat me to posting that LS1 setup... Plenty of room there, would just have to sacrifice a bit of cooling capacity to do so. Better idea like was posted above though, what about a power bulge, ala DSM? Unfortunately sir, you kinda backed yourself into a wall of creative...

Freshly rebuilt 1JZ won't stay running.

You'll like the tires. I have 275's mounted all around on Mk4 TT (rear wheels on all 4 corners) and they stick about as well as could be expected of a 3800lb car. Great straight line traction (bit of spinning around 6000 rpm or so on a hard launch) but I've been taking the freeway exit by my...

    Pre-1JZ drop in checklist

Things I have learned that would have been MUCH easier with the engine out than with it in: -paint -Ypipe/downpipe (only applies if you're staying with the stock twins and care to upgrade) -oil pressure sending unit -oil filter relocation (gonna do that next spring, I have skinny arms, but...

2010 Supras Invade Las Vegas (tm) – mid October

No worries about the lunch Keith, sounded tasty, but I'm sure my mom could do better for a lot less than $26. :p Was kinda odd though, got a refund on my credit card after I had paid it all off... I've never seen a NEGATIVE cc balance.

    heater core confusion

Here's another way to tell... what color is your coolant? I thought my heater core was leaking, as I had pink dried coolant on my driver side near the throttle pedal/linkage. Kinda panicked because pulling the dash isn't exactly on my "fun things to do with a Mk3" list. Come to find out, when we...

Obsolete MKIII parts; are there any?...yet?

Ordered new hood seals yesterday, the one that goes across the radiator support and the one that goes across the firewall in back. Guy at Champion called me today to let me know the rear seal is discontinued. Know where I might be able to buy one from Jeff? Or does anyone know of a different...
