If you want to get in to drifting the only way is to move to LA. There are events almost every weekend.

Usually full cage is for tandam. Or pro events.

Sounds okay. Practice is that main part. I would start looking at other mods though. If you want the easy way out on the diff weld it. Coilovers would be a big plus. Also... Steering angle sucks on MK3's but from what I hear you can use s13/14 aftermarket Tie Rods to get a bit more angle.
