Thanks Qwik and Dziuggy! I took Wellington for a ride around the block today. Unfortunately, I ran into a snag with my laptop and can't connect to the EMS anymore so, I've got to get a new serial adapter before I can start road tuning it (needs it pretty bad).
LOL, I knew somebody would do it sooner or later. Those 4200s are just screaming for a big turbo to be bolted on. Good luck cramming one in a Supra though...
MDC posted about it on the old Supramania site, I think it would be worth a try to ask him about it. The reason I remember is because I almost bought it from him. I have my original R154 in a billion pieces (still, on the back burner now). You'll need a hydraulic press to get everything apart.
The T78 alone goes for $1984.50 on Horsepowerfreaks.com, new. I haven't had it running with the new turbo yet, fingers crossed. I got the TD08 kit from Powerhousejimbo when he was selling stuff on Supramania, I can't say it was a pleasant transaction. The T78 I bought from "Riggs" on SF, nice...
What, no more pictures? Since you were so kind to make me a picture, I have a certificate for you...
Once you have our friend go out and cobble up a logic chip and a JZ ignitor on his 7M, perhaps you'll be kind enough to tell him why his car runs like crap. It will, because the...
What? Mr. Y wants to replace his 7M ignitor with a JZ ignitor. This will absolutely not work with the stock ecu, as I've already stated, JZ ignitors need six input triggers. The 7M ecu only has one to give. I suppose you could use a JZ ignitor to drive a single coil for a distributed spark...
The turbo I got (barely) used for $699 from a mk4 guy that thought it was too laggy. The Trust manifold, downpipe, wastegate and oil lines are from my TD08 kit, I think I paid in the neighborhood of $1500 for that, it was a while ago, used as well.
Mine has a big old crack right up the middle. It is from the inside out and hasn't gone all the way thru. It lines up with the crack in the turbine housing pretty well...
You are aware that Ron Ramirez has a Motec standalone in his car? It is quite a bit more pricy than a replacement ignitor, even with shipping to Russia from the US.
JZ ignitors need 6 IGT signals from the ECU as they are not multiplexed nor wastefire. A stock 7M ECU will not operate this...
I do have a bottle sitting around. I'm not really interested in putting it on currently. I'll have the redline somewhere around 8k so, the powerband will be ok I think.
Damned free pic hosting seems to be dying on me. T78 is Greddy speak for a TD07 and TD08 (Mitsubishi turbo designations) hybrid. It has a 66.7 mm compressor inlet so, it would be the rough equivelant of an SP67, only it has a much larger backhousing, in the neighborhood of 1.0 A/R. I'm expecting...
