My swap cost about $2900 total. I cut costs by doing the wiring and work myself. Don't expect to have a good running 1jz for much less than that unless you get really lucky.
What I did was call up JDMexchange in philly, they offered to pull everything I wanted from a front clip they had in the warehouse, I went down and put it all in my truck. I didn't have to deal with shipping the clip or storing it, and I still got everything I needed. I actually forgot the...
There is a jumper harness. However, it is straight through, so if you have enough space to connect the box to the end of the harness where it is, you don't need one.
Just wondering, when you had the coolant and oil mixing due to the bad headgasket, did you change the bearings after replacing the gasket? It's very common to get rodknock after a BHG because coolant will eat the bearings.
Hah, those are from jdmexchange right? Those are out of the car that I bought the engine from. I remember wanting those seats, I was just out of cash at the moment.
Anyhow, project looks great!
Yeah pretty much all the manual recline seats do it. It used to happen in both my 87 and my 88. I think the gear holding them in place wears out and slips when you get in and out.
The last owner of my car had the desire to cut holes in everything. I have several extra holes through my firewall, and in my trunk, and through the floor, and one in the front subframe(why I have no idea). He also managed to break a hole in the rear subframe but it's ok he was putting down alot...
If you look at connector 2F pin 7(the white wire from the fuse box in question) and follow it on the wiring diagrams you will see that it goes to the alarm horn as stated.
The temp sensor plug is in that picture as well, however it is not one of the circled connectors, it is the red one at...
Those plugs are for the AC. They are for the magnetic clutch relay and the speed sensors.
That wire is only needed if you are going to be using the stock alarm. It is the positive wire to the alarm horn at the back of the engine bay.
Another thing to check since you were talking about the belt squeaking before is the water pump. I had a bad water pump on a supra that made a knocking noise.
The bellhousing and flywheel aren't too bad to find, you can usually order them from toyota japan. I can't even imagine trying to find a 1j vvti ECU though or any vvti engine specific components. Also, since the vvti 1j didn't come in the supra you're in for alot more work in wiring at the very...
As evilempire said, you can use either one, they are the same. You can also swap whatever parts between them that you want, I used the 7m alternator block and the rest 1jz.
I'd be willing to do help out pending some details on the nature of the parts. I basically would want to know it doesn't have the potential to damage my engine, assuming it was installed correctly etc. PM me and i'll give you my cell number if you want.
The camry throttle cable fits like a glove, you have to swap the bracket by the pedal, and then it's a bolt in affair. I have a 6 cyl camry and the cable is the same so any cable 4 or 6 cyl from 92-96 should work.
Here's a pic of the 4cyl cable on my car:
It's pulled out but you can tuck it...
