I've never filled mine completely up like nick has stated, for that reason and 1/2 tank can get me around. Gas weighs something too, so a full tank is adding a decent amount of unneeded weight.

Its bullshit your reading, just like that CDs that are burned only last like 10 years. As long as any media is kept correctly stored it will last as long as you want it too. The cover that is printed on a CDR or DVD is designed to be written on. Why do you think they have lines for writting on them.
