Thanks JJ.
As I've said before California is absolutely out of control with idealist tree huggers with no sense of reality or the damage they do the country by driving up costs to achieve NOTHING in many cases. There are many examples. Sad thing is, it's like a cancer and this kind of...
:icon_razz I second BlkSupra87's thanks to the group! I think I would've sold my Supra when the hg blew if it weren't for a lot of quick and accurate technical answers along with a little encourangement. I'm looking forward to putting more faces to names when I get the chance. Just gotta make...
Me thinks me likey! :biggrinbo
Feel free to discuss. I'd like some thoughts on how this looks and/or what might look better. How about some input from the "oldschool" guys?
So am I right that I could get by without painting the bay? What about repainting the door jambs and other...
Thanks Yellow! Rep given.
Well, I don't know what to think. I wasn't majorly impressed right off, but it grew on me over a minute or so. I'll come back later and give it another look.
I think the pin stripe really hurts the look. Can that be taken out?
What do you guys think?
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Anything but a probe!
I really hope to do something tasteful, but slightly different, and NOT ricey. If this approach is tacky, let me know. I'm just doing the early thinking on it.
Here's a link to the color I was thinking of...
So I'm thinking about new paint this winter. My '90 Turbo is red, and it's not my favorite. I'd like to change the color, but I don't want a half-a$$ed job and since I won't be pulling the motor to do the engine bay that's the way it would end up.
I absolutely love the dark graphite grey...
$1200 for a great paint job? Was that prep and all? I'm looking to paint mine within the next 6 months. Think your punkass painter has any interest in doing another Supra?
Personally I would never own this car if I wasn't willing to pick up a wrench and learn how to do virtually whatever new problem springs up, but I'm cheap. You're talking a 15 - 20 year old car with manageable, but somewhat predictable problems, and parts that often don't come cheap. I work on...
Look for a couple of vac hoses and a blue vsv behind the charcoal canister against the firewall. If the hoses are disconnected and/or the vsv is shot you will be hot under the dash. I have the same issue and need a new vsv, myself.
Damn, Jeff. How do you resist the boost temptation? I just can't do it. And you must have that thing tuned perfectly to run upwards of 5 mpg over EPA rating on a nearly 20 year old car.
So is it worth submitting a work in progress? I read the rules and I've done a lot of work in a few short months and had some solid compliments, but I won't be happy until I get some new paint on her sometime this winter. It's not bad, but the clearcoat is hazy and there's that little dent in...
I got thinking about that 10 hp to run a compressor thing myself, and it just doesn't add up. The a/c compressor for my house runs on 220 single phase, which I don't think can support more than 5 hp, and that cools 1700 square feet and another 800 in the basement. Even 3 phase 220 typically...
My underhood temps are high too, and I was recently told that boost leaks can cause temps to soar so putting together a boost leak tester is on my short list of to-do's.
Daily driving is about 18 mpg, with a good mix of highway and city driving, but I can't resist the boost. I got 23 on a road trip last month. That was all bone stock. I'll have to see how my new Apexi intake and full exhaust change things.
