It really depends on how high you boost them and how hard you run them. If you boost them everyday @ 18psi, then they may not last very long. If you're boosting them to 11-12 psi then they may last you a year or longer. It just depends on how good of shape they're in now and how well you treat...

Are you installing a turbo A duct like my car has? If so, I hope yours fits better than mine. I had to have mine fiberglass'd in because it wouldn't look right any other way. Good luck with that powersteering rack, it can be a pita. As for the rearend, me and Ricky changed mine in 29 minutes...

The 1jz isn't really big enough to spool it quickly. It will spool it.......eventually. It may work out well for you, but if I could sell it and get a smaller, more efficent turbo, then that's what I'd do. Good luck either way. A camaro probably had a 5.7 liter as opposed to a 2.5 liter.
