That's what would happen with my car. I removed the plastic hatch trim, and water would leak in from the window somewhere. If the car was sitting while it was raining, The first time I moved it, you could actually see water pour out of the hatch. I would say you need either new window trim...

Could be your TPS going out.... I know when mine was misadjusted, there was a dead spot, then it would "catch" and zip straight up to 2,000rpm like you mentioned...
