are you sure it is the downpipe... or the exhaust manifold?
an exhaust manifold will sound like a really bad exhaust leak. this will dramatically effect your boost... start your car listen around the turbo, rev if you must.

this is probably the best site i have seen for it, read what the hoses and ends are for it's pretty simple
i wouldn't go for the k&n FIPK. i would go for the k&n general (it's the long filter) cheaper, and i have seen it on plenty of MKIV's with over 1,000 hp, twin turbo and single.
i did buy the apexi and i just wish i went for the k&n general but oh well :)
i would like it if the stock wing was removed, i like the idea of a taller wing like the mkiv or an 80's mercedes i saw~ can't think of it's name off hand.

wow... what he is saying is they do not stop oil from going into your system and you should have lines goto the can and a filter attached to the third hole.

no it isnt thank god. i could imagine my grandpa with a "Ford Model - T " on his arm, it would look outta place even though he rebuilt them until the day he died.
