No.. I don't follow this reasoning either. Same as AN fittings and hose for PCV lines, I know it looks neat, but it serves no purpose. I'd try those "clamps".... seems like a good idea to me.

I can rebuild them for you as long as they're not badly corroded. New tumblers, springs, etc. Greased up and works better than new sometimes! PM me.

err... not too many. MalloyNX's car caught fire years ago on the highway from something, I don't quite remember what. My Black 90 HardTop has a salvage title due to fire, albeit small, it started in the coilpack apparently, then burned the main harness behind the timing cover, the coilpack...

Did you actually attempt to pull codes or are you only going off the light? There probably are codes present but not setting the light. Pull codes, see what happens.

QFT. I feel the exact same way. I've always had good luck getting used radios in good shape off friends. All of mine have been Alpine and Pioneer and I can't think of any other radio I'd rather own.
