    trannsimission oil cooler?

More than you may want to know....from... According to the Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association, overheating causes nine out of ten transmission failures. Under normal driving conditions, Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) will be at about 170-175 degrees F, and it could go for...

    Supra sounds like a chopper!

Do a compression test on the engine to check all cylinders. If you have one that is very low (ie: 75 lbs) then that would likely be a burnt valve in that cylinder. A burnt valve can give a putt putt putt sound out the exhaust pipe. If the sound is coming from the engine compartment, then it...

    trannsimission oil cooler?

"They" say to run the oil into the radiator first to get the best tranny oil cooling. (Tie ad-on cooler to line on passenger side of radiator). I ran mine into the driver's side line because I was trying to cool it down 'before' getting to the coolant, to keep coolant a bit cooler. I...

    Oil leak....???

Make a 1/2" hook from a stiff coat hanger. Carefully slip it in...between the rubber seal and cam, twist it 90*, then pull a bit. Then slide it around 1/3 and tug, 1/3 and tug/pull. Walking it out. Replace carefully by applying motor oil on new seal. Hold in position, and very gently tap...

    anyone had this AC problem?

If the system is fully charged up, I'd say you have a blockage. The A/c gages will read overly high (too much PSI) on the high-side (like 300-400psi). Have the shop try the cleaning flush first, before the expansion valve (mostly likely spot of blockage).

    starting trouble..

The cleaning at the shop I work in is $129.95 retail. I did it to my car about 2 months before I did a head gasket. It was cleaner inside the intake system, but the sides of the wall were stained with black. I did not see the back sides of my valves before the machine shop did the valve jod...

    Dex-Cool compatable Prestone

I use ethylene-glycol (the old green stuff). It came factory that way. There seems to be less complaints with it than dex-cool.

    Fluydine vs. Flex-A-Lite

I used the 14" bacause it fit right on. With the new valve job, radiator, 180* thermostat, cap, hoses, added cooler, so far it has not gotten over 190*. Temp gage sit below the 1/2 way. I've pushed it hard on several 95* days with the a/c on, gage rose a tiny bit, but up tp 1/2. The fans...

    exhaust question

That's what mine was at stock condition. I went with Magnaflow, 2.5", TOO LOUD, so put on a 24" glaspack in the middle to keep it nice sounding.

    trannsimission oil cooler?

If you have an automatic trans, just ad a Carquest (made by Hayden) cooler by removing the line on the driver's side that runs to the radiator. Then tie the cooler in to it, one to the radiator, the other to the line. The instructions are in the box. I put mine in (non-turbo) using some...

    Fluydine vs. Flex-A-Lite

If you haven't bought yet, check this out. http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=1100&prmenbr=361 All posts above are accurate. I run electric here in the desert, but I took it a step further, I added a 10x15" trans cooler in front of the radiator and tied into the...

    anyone had this AC problem?

Are you using R12 freon?? Here in Calif. its $65 a lb. So I converted to R134a 2 years ago. If your system is charged and the compressor cycles properly, you may have a flapper door sticking in the ducts, which may be drawing warm air into the ducts. If the doors are all fine, then yes, it...

PWR + mech fan questions (ASAP plz)

Right out of MOTOR magazine. GMs coolant problems were/are that some of the gasket materials not being compatable with the dex-cool, particularly the 'pre-formed' gaskets on the intake minofold. They have been solving these issues. Hey, Honda, BMW, MBs, they all claim you must use their...

    Dex-Cool compatable Prestone

Right out of MOTOR magazine, which I get each month. Most manufacturers have their own type of coolant, so new car buyers think they have to go to the dealer to get the 'right' stuff. $$ for them. Color is added to the coolant, which is actually clear, so its not always a good indicator as...

    R-154 problem

Ask around to see if you can find a friend, or a friend of a friend, that can rebuild trannys. During the teardown you might find that is really the only visible problem, and can repair it (without spending a fortune at a shop doing the whole thing). I've done it on several cars with great...

    Suspension Issue

OK...After sitting here reading these threads, I have to let you know....(and I'm not being a smart ass, just trying to help get things straight) Anti-seize is NOT going to change the torque values. Torque is applied to a fastener for ONE simple reason. To keep the parts coming together at...

    Brakes Advice

Why do we have cross drilled rotors??? Brake temperature control ... Brake Fade...caused from excessive heat, thus, cross drilled rotors for more cooling. The stock front brakes are so big and thick and 2 sided with (stiffeners?) cooling fins to help with keeping them cooler. Just look at...
