Yea I'd say I didnt quite get the CPS in right so the timing might be a little off but it should start. I hardwired the ground from the battery to the igniter and then to the manifold ground.
Heres what I've figured out:
Still getting an Ignition code
The tach bounces.- CPS works
The...
Haha yea man...I know. I'm just trying to be as basic as I can in these responses. I have the manual and I've read all this stuff many times I just haven't ever done any of this electrical stuff before. Where can I check? I have the manual and a multimeter but, like I said, Im a complete...
As I said before, I replaced the CPS and reset the ECU and now all 5 of the codes I was getting are cleared. Unfortunately now I have a code 14 ignition problem. Does this make any sense to anyone else, cuz its confusing the hell outta me.
Where can I start?
Actually I've had to do a lot of research on this one. On the 7M the CPS is both the cam and crank position sensor. There's been so much confusion on this because all modern engines have need to know crank position and obviously both are called a CPS.
Yea thats definately it. I just reinstalled the replacement CPS and checked the codes again and now all I'm getting is a code 14: ignition problem.
What could've suddenly stopped working in the ignition system? the engines got 50k miles but the car is about 175k so I'm not too surprised...
I've been trying for about a week to get my 7mgte to start, but the ECU isnt allowing it to. I've been told to jiggle the cam position sensor wires, but that didnt work. I tried replacing it today but it cranked irregularly so I put everything back the way it was. My mechanic says its the...
I went back again yesterday feeling like I may have had some helpful ideas but nothing changed. I tried cleaning the plugs and wiggling it in anyway possible. Nothing. I do have one idea though:
The CPS and O2 sensor both meet into the same wiring. If those wires went bad that would...
I wouldn't say that my car's reliable necessarily, more like I'm too poor to pay a mechanic so I've just kinda taught myself to fix whatever comes up.
Anyone know where I can find instructions for changing a CPS?
I know I've done it before but this time I'll have to do it in a parking...
Wow I feel dumb...I totally thought all along that CPS was camshaft position sensor. Haha.....sweet I've changed it before and I have a spare so I'm going to try that ASAP. Thanks
Yea, didn't change anything. My mechanic says it sounds like a bad crank position sensor, but I cant find anything about that except on the 2JZ. Does it have one? He said it could also be called a "magnetic pulse generator". I know I have a spare one so I can easily try changing it...
Ok I just got back from my second attempts to start the car or diagnose a problem with no change. I checked all fuses and hoses but nothing seems unusual.
I did notice the boost gauge is at 0, which means theres a vac leak somewhere......and.....I ran check engine codes. As I mentioned...
Thats a start. I'll try right after I get off work today, but I doubt its anything so simple. I did notice when I popped the hood that the BOV hose had blown off, but I doubt its related. It has plenty of gas so I have no clue. My only hope is that somehow theres a fuse blown, but again I...
I've replaced almost everything that could be the source of the problem so I cant figure out why it won't start. My car drove great all day but about an hour later when I tried to leave I realized I was stranded. I'm completely stumped. The battery is new and has plenty of charge. The starter...
Oops I guess I shouldve mentioned this already....this isnt my first upgrade or anything....I already have a DP, high flow cat, 3" catback, 550cc/lex upgrade, IC piping....so Ill probably get even more gains, right? Anyone think its a bad idea to go 3" elbow to the 2.5" opening in my DP? I know...
I can't seem to decide which would be the best buy for the money ($120): a set of dual electric fans from a SVT Contour or a 3" turbo elbow. I know the elbow will yield the most power gains and give me much better throttle response and spool up time, but I've heard that electric fans can give...
If this setup cost more than $50 and took a lot of time to do I wouldve never concidered it. I would never try to defend the idea that it even would come close to an aftermarket IC, I just want to defend my point that its possible and it has the potential to be at least 1.5 times better, if not...
Well now that I understand how air travels in tubes I can explain that my intentions werent to add tremendous amounts of piping....much less a 90 degree angle...True it would be extremely ghetto and in no manner anywhere near as efficient or logical as an aftermarket IC would be....I just wanted...
