    Gilsdorf's Long Road to Automotive-Nirvana

I'm back in Nevada now, and the car still sits in the trailer we used to move it out here on. I've been working real hard at getting the garage ready so I have a place to put the cars (it was full of stuff from the move). I don't know when I'll be able to work on it, but will be nice to have the...

    7m build up whoot!!

Pull the engine and tranny together as one, but get a load leveler before you do it, it'll make it much easier. Be sure to drain all the oil out of the transmission before you start jacking up the front of the engine--or at least be ready for the majority of it to pour out the rear tranny seal...

    Gilsdorf's Long Road to Automotive-Nirvana

Sid, There is not much left to do, but finding the time to do it, is the hard part. Basically the bumper needs to be wetsanded (actually resprayed, again, color isn't a good match) and installed, bumper foam needs to be trimed for the A-duct. Initial start up tune on the AEM, and then dyno...

    Where to get lug nuts?

Ian, can you elaborate? I just spent $130 on forged AL lugs that are significantly lighter that the steel ones. Matt

    polishing up some parts

Hey John, The coils are off of a Hayabusa (they are brand new and were never actually installed on a 'Busa), controlled by an AEM EMS and an MSD-4. If you look close you can see some of the parts you coated for me (the cam backing plate, exhaust shields and the lower timing belt cover), I...

    polishing up some parts

Get a professional to do it! I spent hours and hours doing just what Razzaken said to do on my first intake, took forever and I still had high and low spots. first manifold done myself: professionally done manifold, valve covers, fuel rail, IC pipes, rad pipes: It was only about...

    intercooler

My Bad, Ian. I just read up on intercooler theory and what I thought was right was wrong. Pressure drop is more about the restriction in the core not the volume of the core. There I go talking out my ass again. Matt

    intercooler

Here are some pics of mine, it's the 3" thick one, but the 4" would bolt up just the same (I will probably go bigger in the future). The 4" thick one will have a greater pressure drop (more lag with the same size turbo) than the 3", but I don't know by how much.

    Gilsdorf's Long Road to Automotive-Nirvana

Thanks Chris, I'd be happy to give ya a ride even a spell behind the wheel, would be fun. It's just too bad I'm now nowhere close. Matt

Cryo, Sorry the pipe was custom one off. If I have to take it off for any reason I think I'll have it replicated and maybe put together a GB if there is $erou$ interest. Matt

    Gilsdorf's Long Road to Automotive-Nirvana

Well all didn't go according to plan. So the car is much further along, but not finished, sorry no dyno #s yet. As some of you know I moved to the Lake Tahoe area (Minden, NV) to be closer to family. The move went as well as expected, with only some minor stress. I spent the first part of...

    Gilsdorf's Long Road to Automotive-Nirvana

Well if all goes according to plan, it should be running and on the dyno by this Wednesday. Keep your fingers crossed! After the dyno it is going right onto a covered trailer and being hauled to my new home in NV. Sorry Colorado, no time for a GTG. I'll be at SILV this year though. Matt

What in the hell have I gotten myself into?

That's not cool, whoever sold that to you didn't point it out in the first place? They must have know the block was busted if the tranny was off before you bought it! I would look for a cheap used block, I'm pretty sure that one of the bolt holes for your bellhousing is gone, this could lead...

tweak666's high-strung and drawn out build

What HG are you going to use with the O-ringed block? I thought about going with O-rings and using the SCE copper gasket for the 7m, but ended up going with an HKS stopper instead. Good Luck with the build! It's good to see nice clean white ones being done up right. Matt

    any people in COLORADO??

My lights went out a few years ago, it turned out to be the reostat (dimmer) for the lights. I think there is a troubleshoot page on cygnus for it, but it might be just as easy to call the dealer. Matt

I've got an intake side gte cam I can send you, no charge, it's in way better shape than those. Matt

    Custom interior

I got in on that leatherseats.com group buy in 2005, and had them put black perforated alacantra (fake suede) in the center and on the door panels. Loved how it turned out, like an upgraded stock interior(not all pimp-daddy!) for the money I think the fit/quality could have been better (one of...

High-temp paint in relation to exhaust

Are you painting it to keep heat in, to make it look good, or to keep it from rusting, or all of the above? If you want to keep heat in then wrap it, if you want to make it look good the eastwood stuff is nice, or you could send it to Jdub and make it really pretty and keep heat in. Matt
