Even though I'm in the Northeast, I think that you should finish it. Just do what you can with it when you have some spare money. You'll be happy after you get done with it. That's just my 2 cents though.
Unfortunately, the pulley isn't the problem. Like I said, it's the lower mounting bracket. The top one is lined up properly. But, the bottom one make the alternator cockeyed. I didn't realize it till after I started the car. The noise was unbearable. So, what I did was set both alternator...
I think that I bought the same one. It is in fact off a little bit. I had to take almost a half inch off the bottom mounting bracket to get the belt to line up. It is still off just a hair and makes a little bit of belt noise. I also replaced the pulley that came on it with a driftmotion one.
Glad you decided to do it again. I remembered when you sold the last one for a killer price after you did the swap. I knew that you would come back though with a MKIII (and not a MKIV ;)) Can't wait to see the build.

BTW, stay away from anything that isn't the Hella e-codes or the stock sealed beams. They are all junk. I just put some Hella e-codes that I bought from 7M POWER with some aftermarket bulbs and they are awesome.
