STALX Supra - The Ultimate Time Attack MKIII

Also subscribed. Street tech follows race tech, and watching a build focused on cornering will be really informative for me. That said, can't wait to see more of it :D

Anybody have tips for the DIY painter?

Capacity and duty cycle are key, just like welding. Make sure that your compressor can handle the volume of air you need at the pressure you're painting with at least a 90% duty cycle. This means that in an hour of continuous use, it'll paint for 54 minutes and charge the tank fully in 6. It's...

Official Haltech thread...Supra Jumper and P&P harnesses available!!!

Or even a pinout kit of some sort...just sell the plug for the EMS, a gang of spare pins, jumper wire and pinouts. I'd be happy to assemble my own PNP.

Project "so I have this widebody..."

Not 1/4 miles...mountain passes at a time :P Either way, I know it looks kinda similar, but mine is really one-off. The Abflug is all almost knife-edged, and has vents behind the front and rear wheels, as well...I've never seen it in person, though. With all those angles and ridges, it's hard to...

My Car vs 2009 Porsche 997

$5k for a clutch job on a 997T? Think more like $9k. The dealer quoted my buddy $6300 for one in his 85 944... On the other hand, Spec clutches seem to go for ~$800 online, so DIY is definitely the smart way to go for him. Plus, gives you time to install that meth kit :D Hope to see the video...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

Didn't mean to sound like I break into cars all the time...I just meant that if anyone locks their keys in their Supra at a meet, I'm the man to come see. I've got one now, no need to get greedy and take someone else's. It'd be way too mean to deprive a fellow owner of their favorite ride...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

I just got real good at breaking into mk3's, lol. Honestly, I usually left the window open, at least a 1/4". But give me a flathead and a wire coat hanger, and I can open a mk3 no problem, windows or not ;-) Makes it even easier when I don't have to lean over 7" wide side skirts. Absolutely...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

Yeah...everything (including the seat) but the overdash/dashmat is gone at this point, and I'm about to take that out too, if it'll make this any easier. I think I saw where to use the long extension combo, but it was getting dark and I was getting very frustrated at that point...I'll try...

    Drivers kick panel access

Trying to wire in my alarm, and I cannot, for the life of me, get to all the harnesses I need to in the drivers kick panel. I tried taking my clutch pedal out, but I can't get to the last nut on the side closest to the fender on the master cylinder. I can get a wrench on it but can't turn it...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

Thanks for the opinion, even if it's not that constructive. I know it's a bit out there, but with work, it'll be the sickest mk3 in California. Promise. Especially after I paint it. Still stuck on this wiring, though! I just busted a knuckle wide open getting a harness out of the damn fuse panel..

    Exhaust system Thread.

Seconded. You'll have to go 3.5 or 4" when you're pushing more lbs/min of air than the 3" can take...which will be right around 450-500hp, and after a bigger turbo and equal length manifold. Probably right about the same time. Remember, a motor is a glorified air pump. We make power by making...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

So, I think I'm kinda boned, or at least stuck in a major way. Trying to wire in my alarm, and I cannot, for the life of me, get to all the harnesses I need to in the drivers kick panel. I tried taking my clutch pedal out, but I can't get to the last nut on the far side next to the fender on...

Holy crap, someone else from Fairfield. That rocks, we should meet up sometime and talk Supra.

Snow plus Supra equals a very slow drive home

This. And, practice makes perfect...as this is my first winter in a supra, hitting a corner or two a little too hard and drifting it every day just prepares me for the worst. And, it's fun! Just don't overdo it. Cops can usually tell the difference between "my foot slipped and OHGOD-IM-SIDEWAYS"...

You know you're a Supra owner when...

...when you're bleeding and cursing the tiny hands that built it while doing electrical work (drivers side kick panel...argh!) and yet you're still sitting inside it with no seat making motor and turbo noises.

You know you're a Supra owner when...

...when your daily driver pops a head gasket just to get some driveway time. "Hey, me too!!!"

Project "so I have this widebody..."

First off, I'd like to thank everyone around here for the constructive comments. It's frustrating to take stock of everything that has to be done to this car, but it helps knowing that I'm not the only person that wants to see it finished. Second, I waxed it today. Oh. Your. God. The paint on...

Test-Starting Aristo 2JZ without Trans, Strategies...

I haven't played with a 2jz ecu, but find a pinout for it. You should have a constant 12, ignition switched 12v, and possibly an input from the starter relay. All the rest should be in/outputs, possibly to other control units.

Test-Starting Aristo 2JZ without Trans, Strategies...

Wiring a distribution panel (ie, voltage from alternator/battery to a few fuse holders and relays) shouldn't prove excessively difficult. EWD for the JZA80 would prove infinitely useful here; most OBD2 motors are a self contained system, requiring only that the starter motor and ECU(s) get +12v...

Project "so I have this widebody..."

::dead horse:: Caution: Previously discussed issues ahead ::dead horse:: About to go install my alarm, and ran across a set of rims that don't cost an arm and a leg...too bad they're American Racing, designed by Shelby for Mustangs. But...only thing I've been able to find in a 17x11 et-63...
