Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

That's what I need all right. The problem is that the factory antenna harness has like 7 pins, and the wires aren't typical colors. So I need to figure out which ones to splice in to.

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

I looked, but I couldn't find it. I have a paper copy of the TSRM that would be so much easier to use, but I just moved and it's packed away somewhere...

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

2 Antennas? That would explain it. The white wire plugs into the back of the stock stereo just like the black, and looks a little like a headphone plug. I had no idea we had two antennas. Where does #2 go? And also, does anyone have a pin-out diagram for the factory power antenna? The one...

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

TSRM doesn't show it. At least not clearly enough for me to understand. Maybe my car being an 88 and the online TSRM being for a 90 is part of the confusion... Justin, I'll post a pic when I get home, but it will be a few hours.

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

So I bought the harness and plugged it in to test it. So far so good. Tonight I'm finishing the install with the dash kit/pocket, then to put in new front speakers and a new antenna, since mine is apparently completely broken. Hopefully, music tomorrow. I'll update when I can. Nobody knows...

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

After thought - I've head dual is base quality, but I'm not an audiophile, so I expect it will be sufficient. It was a little over $100 and did everything I wanted: remote control, cd, SD mp3, bluetooth, etc. Plus it has a multi-line display (which I like), and the color-changing faceplate...

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

I got the mounting kit from Walmart as well, but they didnt have the harness in stock. I'll pick one up tomorrow. So tonight I successfully removed the factory stereo. What a monster. I did want to make sure of something though: There are two multi-pin connectors going to the stereo. These...

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

Well that's good. I was dreading trying to pull and reroute those wires... So now I'm attempting to install a dual unit I picked up for not too much at Walmart while sitting in the car in the dark in my parking lot. Wish me luck!

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

One of the units I'm looking at is 4 channel by 50 watts. Can the stock speaker wires handle this? I have no idea what they're spec'd for.

Time for an aftermarket stereo... HELP!

My 20+ year old factory stereo finally gave up the ghost this year, so it's time to put in an after market system. The problem is that I don't know a damned thing about car stereo installation. I'm not looking for anything fancy or expensive, just something good enough to listen to some tunes...

    auto trans answers... still searching

Sounds like a pressure issue to me. Did you remove/clean the valve body during your rebuild? Have you checked your lines/cooler for flow? Also, hitting Devin up is a good idea. The man really knows his shit when it comes to auto trannys.

best cost effective ways for stripping paint on the car?

Pure awesome. And one sexy car at that! But back to the topic: I like the paint stripper. It does a good job of taking it all off without risking damage to the metal underneath. Granted, it's hard to really damage sheet steel if you're not actually trying, but ZERO risk is better than...

piston and connecting rod package on ebay

My general rule is to never buy anything that's important from Ebay, regardless of price. Unless you know the seller (IE, Titan Motorsports or similar), you really have no effective recourse if something goes wrong. I know it's a little ridiculous, but it occasionally happens that what comes...

    Ebay Projector upgrade kits?

So since I'm barely understanding what you guys are talking about, it sounds like my best option is to wait till someone is selling drop-in units. I hate this electrical shit, it confuses the hell out of me. BTW Chris and SSSC - Your setups are fucking awesome! Well done!

    Ebay Projector upgrade kits?

jrot- I agree that silverstars are pretty good, but we all know they're not the best. I've had them on a number of cars, but for the supra I want something better. Personally, if I'm driving well above the speed limit at night, "pretty good" isn't good enough. I want "fucking astounding". I...
