Good soldiers are expected to follow orders. The military is NOT a democracy.

Jdub: I agree with you.. I am glad your a thinking soldier. Your commanders are smart, The guys they take their orders and info from (polititians) may not be. If you think politics and the military are seperate competely, that is fine. I made my points very clearly..

This is a great point..I agree those are not good reasons. This should go without saying. I meant more like how is it done, Do you bypass the chain of command or confront your next in line directly? And if the facts are not given to you before your actually given the order and you are there...

Please explain? What kind of orders are ok to question? How do you go about doing it so as not be be frowned apon? How can you question an order without having all the facts to help you decide?

Again I am sorry, You are correct in the fact that you have a choice, The truth is, if you choose to question an order, you will either not be promoted up through the ranks or you will not be a soldier much longer.

We have never had a thread locked to date that was a direct cause of anything that either he or I said yet. Just so you know,, Yes, I am a bad mod..

But for the typical "low man on the chain" the guys under the Sergent,who is actually fighting, does he get to choose? If so, how much time does he have to think about it before he follows or refuses to follow an order?? How can he be expected to make an uninformed decision??

It means soldiers do not get to decide what orders they follow and you know it...

I mean do they show you all the information involved, let you interview the witnesses, show you their proof, let you do any research or allow any time from when they give you the order and when they expect you to follow it so you can decide if the order is one or the other?

Ohhh ya? Thanks...I made an assumption there. Do they issue you information or teach you on how to tell the two orders apart? Do there prove the reasons for their justification of said orders to you on every order?? Not trying to be a dick. just wondering how you decide.

I am glad you see it that way. It is a compliment. The military expects your loyalty and so do we. Your orders are given to you by your next in line of the "chain of command" above you.. Who ever that is. same with his orders... and so on, and so on, and so on through out the chain...

You should say: "Here is GOLD's unproven and out of date theory that he stole from a Russian 50yrs ago in which I base my beliefs in. The world thinks he is nuts, but I sill have my doubts in the world even though it's a scientific fact and has been proven "chemically identical" to organic...
