maybe i didn't make it clear enough, you do need a special cleaner, i used electrical cleaner, used to clean open wires and computers.. it sprays on and dries itself. you are right though most cleaners will toast the sensor. but i say again.. a special cleaner spacifically designed to clean it...
it is not slipping out of gear?
there are a few things that can be wrong with the info ya gave..
Ignition timing is incorrect or is not working right(for both probs)
dirty fuel injectors (this can be your other problem too)
wouldn't hurt to check your throttle body bore, use carbeurator...
when i think about a scoop i think about the WRX STI... i also think about muscle cars. scoops and vents are fine on your hood. Huge wings on front wheel drive cars, are not.
i think its funny that you would consider a roof scoop because i have never seen a use for them in the past, and this...
yeah i have heard they are somewhat shady, best to call up or show up at their doorstep with a gun.. thats how i finnally got the title to my car anyway.. :3d_frown:
are you sure the smoke is coming from your exhaust?
check under your car, look for a red sap looking substance. check your exhaust, spacifically around the second cat. if there is a black sappy substance or something cooked on, it is your automatic transmission fluid. of course i am assuming...

i had an 84 or so mx-6 that would do that, get a turbo timer or go by what toyota says and let your car idle for a few minutes after "hard driving". this includes: Towing, Racing, DRIVING UP HILL..
if you think its your cap...
goto http://www.maxxautoworks.com/ they have a very nice IC..
21.1 lb 24x12x3.5
2.5 inlet/outlet bead rolled
i would suggest, as always.. custom piping to fit what you want your car to look like.
Get a 4 inch inlet/exhaust only if you are running a big turbo that requires it. otherwise it would be a waste of time and money (KISS theory). 4 inch exhausts are loud, and not very legal, then again neither would be having that big of a turbo on your car in the street in most cases.
HKS...
all you need is a piece of wire to check the code. if i remember right the code is either 11 or 21. check that air filter too.. i have a hunch the sensor is dirty because of the infamous k&n air filter you have (the oil gets all over the Mass airflow sensor and screws it's ability to detect the...
