A used engine well always be a used engine, definately. No getting around that. Fortunately though, 1Js have a really good track record for being in good shape out of clips. Not quite as good from engine sets or just an engine by itself but still pretty good. I would trust a clip motor again...

Well, I know there are MK4s making 500s with stock fuel, so that would lead me to believe they're 550s. But if some tests of supposed 550s come out only 440s after cleaning and balancing, well that's enough for me not to play around with it.

7Ms are top-feed last I remember. But it's been over 2 years since I've even touched a 7M so don't quote me on that. :P 1J and 2J are side feed for sure though.

I wouldn't even play around with turning up the boost on a single turbo with stock injectors. You're playing with fire, IMO. Your boost could jump up higher than you think you set it on a cold night. Your boost controller might act up and spike your boost or the WG hose might pop off and you...

It's not supposed to be vented... Why were you using a stock bypass valve on a single turbo setup? Where did you even put it? :icon_conf

I'm aware. Regardless, it is able to achieve great MPG numbers despite it's engine size. Even with the new LS7 7L, it still gets 16 mpg in city according to Chevy's site... and 26 highway. The 6L LS2 does 18mpg city and 28 highway.
