yeah, zircon oxide i think it is. hard as or harder than diamonds, i have to send it back to the company to sharpen it. it's got a hell of an edge retention though. i did read on one site that a silicon carbide wheel will hone it, but since it was only one site, i dont want to ruin a $150...

get it repaired under warranty, but id never trust the guy to touch anything upwards of a hairdryer if it's just been rebuilt by him. fins hitting the housing could be an incorrectly sized wheel, too much shaft play (but you said you didnt feel any) or an off-center shaft i suppose.

here it is, just what i didn't need but bought anyway:

i had to use a microsoft wireless 6000 mouse for about a month. it felt like the shape (ergo, of course) was too small to fit my hand and my pinky would drag beside it and get run over every time i'd move the mouse. like i said, after about a month things got better.
