    intermitant power steering?

You might want to take out the reservoir and clean it with brake cleaner, especially the screen at the bottom. It gets really clogged over the course of 20+ years and can definitely restrict fluid flow. Although I've never heard of it being this bad...still a good thing to do anyway. A full...

Proper way to perform coolant flush?

I'm surprised you haven't heard of the exhaust gas thing Lewis I've read about it at least a few times... http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23664 http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106288 http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89565 I did say I...

    Somethin's messed up

I had a major exhaust leak once (unfortunately let a shop put on my Titan downpipe and they screwed something up) and I wasn't able to make boost...turbo spooled up but as soon as it hit boost there was practically none to be had. This isn't typically what would cause a problem like yours, I...

Proper way to perform coolant flush?

There is a drain plug on the side of the block. When you put it back in make sure to torque it to spec and use thread sealant. You shouldn't need to "flush" the water out with coolant, if that's what you're saying...the minerals and ions in a few drops of tap water aren't going to give you...

    weird noise past 4500 rpm's

My last car (MR2 turbo) did this exact same thing - a weird screeching sound that only happened on boost. Turned out to be a leak in the exhaust manifold. So +1 on checking for boost leaks. They can cause black smoke too, or so I've read on here.

so what went wrong here?!?!? Please help.

^^ +1 for not driving it, especially no more boosting - you could really do some damage. It is a fun car...glad you're happy with it but you could easily warp the head or something if you keep overheating it (twice is bad enough), so if you want your engine to last don't drive it at all til...

so what went wrong here?!?!? Please help.

Well the crack in your radiator can definitely cause all this, besides losing coolant through it you'll also lose pressure, which lowers the boiling point of the coolant and make the cooling system less effective. These two things put together are very likely the cause of your overheating...

    shifting issues

You didn't say you had put in the MT-90, if you haven't done that yet it's definitely a good idea. If you have the wrong kind of gear oil in there (like anything that has friction modifiers), that could be keeping the synchros from working properly; if not the MT-90 will be still be an...

No boost (turbo won't spool), low idle

Yes I did check for codes :) And I get what you're saying about a boost leak, but the thing is the turbo isn't "boosting and spooling like a madman." I'm listening and it definitely isn't spooling at all. I will re-check the IC piping again, but it would take a pretty substantial hole or...

No boost (turbo won't spool), low idle

To give a bit of background, I shimmed my wastegate recently, and found that I had overdone it a little. So I removed a shim from both actuator bolts and put it back together. The car seemed to start fine, but then when I went to drive it I discovered I have no boost. The car felt incredibly...

    7MGTE re-assembly

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97721 Also, if you look at J. Seaman's guide for steps of modification, 300hp is the point at which you would want to put in an MHG. Might as well spend the extra money and do it while you're in there instead of pushing the stock HG to its...

    Steering Problems, Popping and Grinding?

Mine did the same thing when I first bought it...there was a bad grinding sound when the wheel was turned all the way to the left. When I took the car to a shop for a general inspection I mentioned this to them, and they fixed it easily by "greasing up" the "wheel stops" - as they put it. I'm...

Car starts fine but dies within 5 seconds

Alright nevermind, I got it fixed. Thankfully it was very simple - the TB to intake manifold gasket was causing a vacuum leak. While I had my car taken apart I replaced this gasket, but I used the N/A gasket instead of the turbo one (it looked to be a better fit), not noticing until now that...

Car starts fine but dies within 5 seconds

Well my battery is fairly new so i doubt that's it but if i can find a spare to swap it out with I'll try it...

Car starts fine but dies within 5 seconds

Edit: didn't realize this post was so long, including a shorter version since most people probably don't have all day to read this ;) Cliffs Notes: -Car starts and has low vacuum from beginning (12-13 inHg); vacuum decreases and car dies over the course of about 5 seconds. -Done: checked...

Need help with a couple connectors

Oh alright, well tape could work I guess but you might try soldering if it gives you problems later on...and yeah if the plug's broken off you definitely need a new knock sensor, new ones are up to $200 I think but used ones are much cheaper like $30-50 if I remember correctly. And what...

Need help with a couple connectors

Don't recognize the first one, but the second is the knock sensor connector. You're Turbo so you should have two of them. The location you mentioned for the front one sounds right; the rear sensor is just above the starter like you said. If there's really nothing sticking out to plug it in...

removal of 90 degree coolant hose clamp

Yeah, I've tried that (it's worked on most other hose clamps), but this one is on there GOOD...I get the feeling it has never been replaced during the entire life of the car. Thanks for the suggestion though. Yeah, you're right...I thought about posting pictures but wasn't sure how helpful...

removal of 90 degree coolant hose clamp

Hey guys, I have a coolant leak, and I'm reasonably sure it's my 90* coolant hose, the one behind the engine. The problem is I can't figure out how to remove the top hose clamp, the one that's on the section of the hose running horizontally. I've searched extensively but can't seem to find...

    Haven't introduced myself yet

Hey my name is Ben, I'm 18 and I'm from Denver, CO. I bought my first Supra, a red 87 Turbo, back in January. It has just over 107,000 miles and was in pretty good shape when I got it, it runs great and the body is straight. I'll post some pics soon. It has some mods from the previous owner...
