Plastigage takes about a minute. Much easier to do than to mic th journals. Make sure when you do this you don't have the liming belt on also. It could give false readings.

No, the bolt or stud down. the vacuum manifold should have some more out lets on it near the center of the intake. There is a bolt around there you should be able to bolt it to.

You use plastigauge to check journal clearances. Want to make sure the journals are not warn out to much to where it will damage the cams and the rest of the motor beacuse the oil is not staying where it needs to be.
