I also noticed the sound of the knocking sound changes when I have the brakes applied.. it gets quieter.... I just had my brakes done, could this be connected?
Posted this in the thread about going NA>T... well... ya..
well... I dont know what to do now... I think I just started getting a pretty bad case of rod knock.... this is rediculous.... I'm starting to get so pissed off at my car it's not even funny... I dont know what to do.... Sitting at...
well... I dont know what to do now... I think I just started getting a pretty bad case of rod knock.... this is rediculous.... I'm starting to get so pissed off at my car it's not even funny... I dont know what to do.... Sitting at about 850-1100rpm it's got a loud kinda clunking sound... it is...
Hey guys, I have spent a lot of time thinking about what to do about my supra... here's what my situation is... prices are in canadian
Bought the car for $3300 and I've spent about $3700 into all new front and rear brake pads, resurfaced the rotors, and new calipers in the rear, various...
Ya... putting anything other than a mhg on a gte is a waste of money... might as well do it right the first time on those motors than having to do it twice and spend the same amount (if not more than doing a mhg the first time).. but for the ge, I'm not running a lot of power through it and it's...
they only torqued my head bolts to 55ft/lbs x3... so after I replace my rad cap and thermostat and I cant get rid of the air i'm taking it back to them and they will have to do a second bhg on there dime.... they said they would stand by there work and if they dont, then well, we have some good...
take it to a shop and get them to test the coolant for exhaust gases... that will tell you for sure.. it's a hydrocarbon test or something like that.
Ya, start with a good thermostat (toyota, not some napa one or something)... and a new rad cap just to be sure (they aren't too expensive...
Anbody have any tips on how to shim the valves? I've got quite a bit of valve noise and I was wonderin if this was something I could do in my driveway... I'm just guessing but, does it go along these lines...
1. Disconnect Vaccume lines and any wires
2. Remove Y-pipe and upper intake mani...
ya that's the kind of response I was hoping for... Just some minor stuff that will get me a bit more power out of my N/A, that I can do in stages, but will still leave me options open for a turbo swap, or turbo upgrade.
of course not... it's so sad to see every supra in kelowna have a big fatty coffee can stickin out the ass end em'.... I'm sure it's the same in van. The sad thing is, people think that cars without a big "tuner" exhaust tip aren't fast.... damn ricers...
ya I was just throwin this thread out there, I knew I would get a bunch of people saying go NA-T.. or swap for a gte, but I also knew a lot of you want to keep na (total sleeper... nobody expects a "pff non-turbo" to go fast)... anyways, I also kinda wanted to see what my future options would be...
I dont mind a loud exhaust (kinda heaty tho...) but I am more a fan of a fairly quiet deep tone... Dont wanna sound like one of those hondas with a fatty 4" tin can can stickin out the back that you always hear/see rippin around...
