Scored cam caps, while "normal" on 7m's, is still not good at all. If they installed the caps incorrectly im also surprised the cams didnt seize in the caps. And if it actually ran like that for more then a little while, i would say that the whole head is junk. It doesnt take much to warp...
Do NOT put a screw driver in there to stop the cam gear from spinning, unless you want a broken cam gear. Seen it happen in person, before i could even warn the guy, SNAP! broke the one of the gear spokes clean off. Maybe youll get lucky, but why risk it? Go get an impact gun. Good tools are...
There are way more then 2 out there. Its not even considered a custom plate by bhj. At least it wasnt when i got mine, but then again that was years ago. It may seem hard to find someone but their are plenty of people with them out there. Hell if i dont have a plate for a specific motor i build...
Before you go cutting apart lightposts, keep in mind i allready have all the materials including the aluminum tubing to make the manifold. So all we have to do is get the motor in so i can see the angle the throttle body needs to be at to clear the alternator
Yes there is a dimension. Normally about .001 from the top to the bottom of the spec. You can change the rod bore to anywhere inside that spec to get the desired oil clearance.
Well i stand corrected as i've never had a set of pauters in hand. The problem i most have is that the rods all come slightly larger then needed and have to be cut down and honed for the correct oil clearance. Most people will get a set of rods and just bolt them on, and 99% of the time they...
Actually most rods are out of round. Aftermarket and stock. Even my crowers were out of round. Every rod should be honed to the right size and normally that will make them round again. The thrust sides of the rod are the important ones. The problem is that when you cut down a rod to make it...
Oh and on one more note, if by rebadged rods your referring to the h-beams sold on ebay, and the no name h-beams sold by others, they are a different brand manufactured in a different factory. I've had both rods in hand and i can assure you they are different.
7 years only as a full time professional engine builder, much longer not full time. Yes eagle has been around for a while and yes it is a chinese rod. When they first came out they had some problems but that was years and years ago. I've built motors numbering in the thousands with eagle rods...
Actually tons and tons of people use the eagle upwards of 1000hp on v8s for without any stretching, breaking, ect. Do you have any personal expierience with eagle making you say this? because if not, i would keep your bad mouthing to yourself. I've been building motors for 7 years, not one...
