EDIT: You answered the question about the fuse.
Always have an inline fuse on any positive cables (that you run) no more than 6" away from the battery.
That would be nice.
I'll be buying the A-arm bushings, as I know the original rubber bushings are bad on my car. Hopefully someday down the road, we'll see them reconsider and make the rest of the bushings for our cars.
Solder + heat shrink tubing will make it so you never have to worry about those wires coming apart or corroding.
Just using those crimp on connectors is just asking for trouble.
Out of curiosity, have you considered using two Walbros? I've seen Supra owners use two Walbros to meed their fuel demands with great success.
Even the cost of two Walbros and some fabrication to put them both in your tank would cost less than that $250 boost pump; and you wouldn't have to...
Agreed.
When I bought my N/A Supra, it needed a fuel pump. Since I knew I'd be going turbo someday, I spent the $100 and installed a Walbro. Best $100 I ever spent for the piece of mind knowing that I'll never have fuel related problems because I did a half assed job on my fuel pump.
I...
Well, I'm pulling the pan on the GTE tomorrow, so I can see exactly what shape the current pump is in.
BTW, I just about have the old drive train ready to come out. All I need to do is unhook and tie up the A/C compressor + power steering pump, unhook the fuel lines and engine/tranny mounts...
Ya, I'm still using the stock gauge.
I wasn't planning on replacing the oil pump, but you guys have a good point. Better safe then sorry. I'll order a oil pump from Jeff, and when it comes in I'll shim it.
Also, do you guys know if the power steering pumps between the GE and GTE are the...
I planed on resealing the oil pan while the engine is out. I'd hate to get this motor installed, just to have that start leaking a few months down the road.
The threads I found on shimming the oil pump, stated that it really didn't make much of a difference on the oil pressure gauge. If...
The motor I bought doesn't sound too tired, at least I hope not.
From the for sale thread:
"The motor was put together in the spring of 07. The block was rebuilt about 30-40k miles ago with new stock parts, I picked it up from another member on here about a year ago. The head was from another...
I recently purchased a 7M-GTE from a forum member on here, to replace the tired 7M-GE in my '86.5. I have the engine just about ready to go in, but was wondering if I should drop the pan on the GTE and shim the oil pump before installing it in the Supra.
I looked through some threads, and...
^^^ I'll have to check that out too. The locks on both of my doors are "stuck" in the unlock position. You can't lock or unlock it from outside or inside the car.
I'm just waiting for some warmer weather up here to pull the door panels off, and see what's going on.
I do like the fact that the white keeps all of the red parts of the gauges looking red, and the needles seem to be easier to see then with other colors. How easy is it on the eyes at night? Do you like the white, or do you wish you went with another color?
