    Welded Diff.?

The only 2 non factory LSD equipted car that I have enjoyed driving on the street are the Tomei T-Trax Advanced clutch and the Quaife Helical. Other clutch diffs are just too tight for the street and you might as well be driving a welded diff. Even the Nismo clutch LSD's are a little tight for...

    Welded Diff.?

We have 2 240sx shop cars. One has a welded diff, the other has a Kaaz 2 way. I would rather drive the one with the welded diff on the street. The Kaaz is tight enough that your always going to hope a tire, or chatter the diff. The welded diff sounds less obnoxious then the Kaaz, and both cars...

How important is it to run coolant to a turbo (aftermarket)?

If you can get in there with a propane torch and not burn anything else brazing the crack should sufficiently seal it without welding. Its not going to be the prettiest looking thing, or the best fix, but it will work.

How important is it to run coolant to a turbo (aftermarket)?

If its a non ball-bearing turbo you dont need to run coolant to it. If its a ball-bearing turbo you absolutely have to run coolant to it if you except any longevity out of the turbo. Pull the housing off and have the crack properly tig welded. NPT seals without the need for a liquid...

Side impact bars give it away again. Lets hope no one comes across that center line, as door bars like the provide minimal intrusion protection.

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

Im loving the way the valve covers turned out. They look great in person! Having access to a couple different media blasters really helps with projects like this. All the aluminum parts were glass bead blasted and left as raw cast aluminum. All brackets, etc were sand blasted and repainted...

    Engine swap advice

I've found the other way works better. Let all the air out of the front tires, and jack the back up as high as you can. Makes the engine/trans go in at a much more natural angle.

    Engine swap advice

Your harness has the equivalant of a firewall connector. Drop the glovebox from inside. Unplug the harness from the ECU and the body plugs. Push grommet through firewall and the whole engine harness comes out. There is no need to disconnect anything from the engine ahead of time, as the whole...

    Nissan guy builds a Toyota

Wow, so its been over a year since I started this thread. Being in Wisconsin sucks with a non heated garage sucks because it limits the time you want to work on the car to the summer months. And in the summer months I have the 300Zx and the motorcycle so nothing gets done on projects. I...

    What would you do?

The section I posted is related to Australian Emissions. I have to keep digging through all my files to find the CA Emissions standard that dictates ECU replacement. Easiest was to put it for CA emissions is: If it is part of the emissions control system (which the ECU is) modification is...

    What would you do?

Where are you located? And yes, it makes you non-complaint for most emissions tests. EDIT: 7. Engine management systems An engine management system enables the engine to function with minimum emissions under a wide range of operating conditions. It also uses a variety of sensors to...

    SCHNEIDER RACING CAMS Regrinds

Check the actual duration (not advertised duration) of that cams as this seemed to be where most buyers were reporting a problem. I'm not sure if it was just cams ground during a certain time frame or what, because I have used Schneider before and loved them. Now I dont discriminate and I...

    SCHNEIDER RACING CAMS Regrinds

I would actually measure both lift and duration of any Schneider regrinds. Numerous Z31 guys are having issues with their Schneider regrinds being significantly off in both lift and actual duration. It was bad enough in my case that I ended up going to new billet grinds.

    JT61GT question........with pics

EDIT: IJ said everything I needed too. But if you want to explain how the location of the reference line will effect the wastegate operation in any way other then potential creep, I'll gladly store it in the book of things learned on the internet.

    JT61GT question........with pics

Incorrect. Wastegate can take a pressure source from three locations: before intercooler, after intercooler but before throttle body, or after throttle body. Depending on where you take the reference source will determine wether the system accounts for pressure drop in the intake...

    1989 Supra with 1991 Engine/Harness/ECU

The connectors I have originally are yellow. The replacement harness is grey plug as is the replacement ECU. I need to mate yellow to grey. A 1991 TSRM and a 88 TSRM would be sufficient but I cant seem to find them. Only one for an 89.
