Once you start modding the car and making more power, the auto won't be able to keep up. Shifts aren't instant, and the stock shift points are timed to not hit readline. Add more power, and it's too fast to not hit redline by the time it shifts.
Other than that, I dunno what your issue...
Too slick and the syncro doesn't work. It's the reason the MT90 works so well, it doesn't have any friction modifier in it (like just about every other synthetic gear oil out there does :( )
Yep, common issue. Only thing that will make it a bit better (besides tearing down the tranny and replacing the syncro) is using Redline MT90 in the tranny.
Neat car, didn't think there was enough room for a straight six under the hoods of those though. If you're going to go straight six, I'd go directly for the 2J since it will be cheaper in the long run (not hard to go 2JZ-GE + turbo).
I've heard there is a way to drop a DSM/Evo motor in those...
Nah, it's that rivet you pointed out. There should be room, but if the head and block are decked, there might not be enough room, so it's safer just to remove it.
I agree, don't use simple DOT 5 as it's silicone based and is not recommended for ABS systems (or high vibration). DOT 5.1 is made like DOT 3 and DOT 4 so it's fine.
