    San Francisco, shame on you.

I'm not really sure why you're worked up about this. What ever happened to self rule? The people who live in San Francisco voted that they didn't want recruiters in their schools, so now they don't. Take a deep breath and a step back; you don't even live there and you're getting this worked up...

High boost, turbo pipes blow up!!!

Your concern is well placed (I had similar thoughs when I first read it on the sogi list) but this dog was beaten to death years ago. John actually ran tempature tests and has pictures here if you care to ready a litle more about it: http://www.jblmk3.com/id1_custom_jblmk3_intercooler_pipes.htm

High boost, turbo pipes blow up!!!

John Lunsford did that a while back and got the same reaction from the sogi mailing list. "That's ghetto..." then "...damn, your car is fast..."

    hp??

Simple answer, because that's how the unit is defined. Longer answer, horsepower is based on the sustainable work output of a horse and a horse can move lots more than 1 lb per second. Don't expect a measurement system created before Newton was born to have any reasonable scientific units...

Where to sell baseball, basketball, football cards, comic books, and so on.

Selling that stuff on Ebay will pay way more than any sport shop.

looking for help from the wise (turbo guys, engineers)

4 stroke engines have an exhaust stroke every other revolution. You get 1 exhaust pulse per cylinder every 2 revolutions and these are phased to give even power delivery but it's not really necessary to get that detailed if we're just looking at gross flow (V/t). Engine speed is measured in...

looking for help from the wise (turbo guys, engineers)

Conservation of momentum would be the place to start here. Collisions between the exhaust gas and the turbine transfers momentum. You need a certain number of collisions to get the wheel up to the desired speed. To increase the collisions you need more exhaust flow. This is where engine size and...

looking for help from the wise (turbo guys, engineers)

That was what I was getting at, but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to explain very well. A simple way of describing adabatic efficency is how much of you pressure increase is an increase in flow and how much is heat. If you pull up a compressor map there are efficency "islands"...

looking for help from the wise (turbo guys, engineers)

Too slow with my first post. The heat issue is tied to the adiabatic efficiency of the compressor at that shaft speed.

If you're talking about turbos look in your textbook first. Flip to the chapter on inertia then skip ahead to thermo and look at adiabatic efficiency and the ideal gas law. You can use these concepts to explain how you trade turbo response for compressor efficiency and peak flow. A/F ratio...

    insurance...

Sounds about right, 17 years olds who've had their license suspended for speeding don't get good deals on insurance, particularly in a sports car. Insurance companies are all about risk management and you look like a hell of a risk. Drive more carefully and eventually your rate will come down.

Are there any Twin Turbo 7Ms?

Twins are marginally more responsive than a single, that's why OEMs use them. But an OEM is playing with a completely different set of rules than a guy in his garage. They've got economy of scale on their side; the additional cost and complexity of using two turbos is quite a bit different than...

    if the supra didnt exist...

I too love torquey madness, that's why I'd want to swap a gen 3 small block into it. There's a couple of reason I'd take a 240 over a 280. The 280 is heavier; the 240 weighs under 2400lbs compared to the 280's 2800lbs. I also live in California and the 240 is just old enough to be smog exempt.

Eithier a 65-66 mustang or a 240Z and I'd save my pennies for a LS1 swap. If I find a good deal on eithier I'll probably sell the supra, underhood inspections are getting old...
