Okay BUMP! I got new spark plugs and wires on the engine, still using the Lexus AFM, idling seems a bit better but still has that rough feeling once in a while. No codes present, although when checking with a timing light seems like a few of the ignition coils have little to no spark output...
^look under car where intermediate shaft and rack meet, if theres a solenoid (or what that thing is) with two wires that lead up somewhere by the fusebox area, its PPS, if its just a regular non wired rack, its non PPS. Yeah thats kinda what i meant lol just couldn't explain it right, but to get...
Intermediate shafts are adjustable length they seem to have the same mechanics as the steering stabilizer, it can compress to be short and expand to a longer length..
i belive that the intermediate shaft remains the same, the only difference is in the rack itself, PPS had the little solenoid by pinion by the shaft and the non-PPS was just a rack without the solenoid
Hey guys. I recently picked up an 89 Supra turbo and the Progressive Power steering rack is leaking, badly. I was wondering instead of spending money to get a remanufactured rack with PPS, is there a way that i can directly bolt on a non PPS rack as it is easier access to me, without having any...
Never got pulled over for the exhaust, its not even that loud to be pulled over i think lol. Its just i bought the car off someone who lives in a non-emissions area and i do, and instead of welding up a 3" cat on there id rather someone else have it to put it to better use and me just having the...
Alright, im hoping my car gets back up and running soon so i can post a video as well so you can have an idea of how it sounds. Still waiting on my parts from RockAuto..
Just wanted to see if anyone wanted to trade an aftermarket turbo-back exhaust setup for a stock? I have a complete 3" setup all the way to the muffler, sounds really good not raspy or ricer-ish, Going stock look. Its pretty much straight pipe all the way to muffler but i have a cat to include...
I hope so as well, after the new parts are on ill check timing and see if there are any codes, so far those really need to be replaced, the resistance of the spark plug wires are out of spec that is in the TSRM
It's at stock boost at the moment, the idle is pretty rough, and i ran a timing light to check for spark on some wires i could access, so far #1 plug wire isnt making the light go, then i tried cylinders 5 and 6 the light constantly flashed indicating spark, my next tackle would be the plug...
Okay so i tried resetting the ECU, then started the car back up, no more codes showing, though the idle speed is really rough and is around 600~ rpm's and the exhaust smells a lot like uneven air fuel mixture and when i rev the engine and let the pedal go it has an occasional "pop" or two that...
I used a Lexus AFM into my Supra housing, like the post Pokey2301 said, the housings are different, but electronics are interchangeable. I hope it is not ECU related..
Alright i will see if resetting the ECU does anything first, if not then ill have to try to get a hold of another Lexus AFM from a known running car lol, thanks for the advice guys! Ill post what happens after i do these series of tests
Even after resetting the battery and whatnot i jump the two diagnosis terminals together code 31 still shows up, so idk why its still pointing out the AFM. Ill try to source out another lexus AFM and at least a Supra afm for comparison.
Well, the thing is. The car already had a K&N filter kit, an aftermarket turbo-back exhaust welded with no-cat, the other thing i only know of that is now not Supra-spec is the Lexus AFM, gives the Supra a bit of a uneven and somewhat rough idle, no hesitation or anything just has a rough idle...
Lexus AFM works? I heard that if you upgrade to lexus afm u gotta upgrade the injectors correct? I tested out a Lexus AFM, the car idles a bit more stable in a way that it won't bog or feel like its going to stall anymore though it idles rather rougher than what i expect, thus needing the 550cc...
Alright I have pinpointed the problem, i floored the gas pedal all the way at a straight road and came to a stop, engine stalled. After i started her back up the CEL light came on steady, drove home and jumped the E1 and TE1 terminals as stated on the TSRM, had a Code 31 "Air flow meter faulty"...
Ill check on any others, here ill try to be as specific as i can. When the car is first started up the idling is fine, then after a while the temp gauge goes to almost 1/4 of the way and then i drive it and its usually fine no idling problem yet, maybe after 10-15 minutes of the car driving and...
