Not in your case, sanding the pre-existing paint in order for new paint to stick is insanely easier. You can cause a lot of problems when stripping and you could also find out you have a ton of dents that have been filled. If you don't know how to do body work, you will want to stay away from...
Oh i see, you were saying stripping with paint striper or by sanding. I would sand, its hard work but i can't stand the time it takes for the paint stripper to do its magic and I can't stand the nasty chemical smell.

Sand, unless it has an amazing amount of paint flaking off of it, it will be much easier to sand. I wouldn't strip it unless i was planning on doing a color change.
I used 80 grit for most of the car and then 40 grit for the bottom sections of the doors and fenders because they were coated with an anti chip coating . I used a variable speed 7inch Polisher, buffer, sander. It has a much larger surface area, a D/A will take forever to strip with. Be careful...
Out of all the jobs we've done we've never had masking marks on the windows, its called leaving the tape on entirely to long. Its a good idea to remove the trim for longevity reasons. 6k is a pretty good deal for a complete, if people say otherwise then they just love the look and quality of...
If your looking for awesome reliability with descent power the 2jzge is also a good motor. Plus if you ever get tired of the n/a power there are kits to make them n/a turbo's. Or just go 2jzgte all the way. The 1jz is good but i hear that doing the swap to a pre-88 body can be a hassle? Someone...
He's 100 percent right. Do it the right way before it gets worse, it will be worth it in the end. When you put in new steel make sure to prime and paint it or it will rust very quickly. I have some rust to repair in the spare tire well as well. If you suspect that the spare tire well is rusting...
Wow, it is really low. Its cool looking but i can understand that its not very functional for every day use. I want to slam my car low like that but theres no way I could get away with that with these crappy southeast texas roads.
Hey, we all have really tuff things happen to us. It is all how you look at it that will predetermine how you handle it. I've went through things that shake me to the point of giving up, but i have always just looked to the future with hope that it will get better. Good luck.
I wouldn't worry about him, there are tons of idiots around here who pretend like they know all about supras. In fact I talked to a fellow employee who picked up a mkiv supra for $600 in great condition with well over 800hp. Another guy told me he had a 1988 mk3 with a quick little 4 cylinder...
