Due to the different size of the transmissions, they are definitely not the same size but I don't know the exact difference in length and I don't know if there is a different in splines. If I recall correctly, there is supposed to be a difference in number of splines between turbo/non turbo, but...

If anyone has ever used D-2-L they know that whether you use them to downshift or upshift there's a HUGE delay. Is there any modification you can do to get rid of that?

Why replace the muffler? Replace the whole exhaust if you're gonna do that, or at least replace the muffler with a quality one, not some cheap e-bay stuff.
