Given the bike was pretty much the same until recently, I would look for a model from the later 90s early 2000s. They can still be had pretty cheap. 89 is a little old. But that's just me. Although you may learn a lot of valuable things about bike maintenance from the older bike.

It's a great bike. They take well to simple mods surprisingly. Hard to see on paper since it's only ~30hp but there's a number of free mods you can do to improve the throttle response and general better feel of the engine. Alot of the bikes came really lean from the factory so the carb...
