weird. I typed in a post and it put it as reply #12, very strange.
I'm over my rant now. it's still the way I feel though.
lets try this again:
it's all good
All of this has been covered in a thread on this forum before so it's kind of pointless, but I feel the need to rant.
I personally find it frustrating reading the "getting power out of an NA" threads that have NO new info, just uniformed kids that refuse to go to other websites or use the...
wideband is vital. it should be the first thing you purchase before any kind of tuning, that is unless you want to spend a considerable amount on dyno tuning.
you need more than an SAFC, it tricks the computer into how much air is flowing into the motor and thus load inputs to the ECU are...
and after the main is gone, the oil pan gasket will go. like MDC said, those blow by gases MUST be evacuated from the crank case via vacuum supplied by the intake.
you route the other nipple back to the throttle body so the catch can has vacuume to pull any gases into the can. the purpose of hte can is to get the oil vapours cool enough that they condense and collect in the can. Put some fine steel wool in the catch can before you hook everything up...
this may be slightly off topic, but when doing a rebuild on an NA would it not be beneficial to remove that center ring and the arrow on the top of the piston? to me that looks like an obvious hot spot which coualad cause detonation aswell as something for carbon to catch on.
any thoughts?
although I may get a lot of flak for this...I think in some cases a metal headgasket is overkill...at least for an NA.
I know a local toronto club member that has a spotless 89. His engine has a stock toyota headgasket which he has torqued down to the proper level (much higher than stock - I...
Alana, just a suggestion for sound deadening if it needs to be in the car somewhere. Check out this product. http://www.quietcar.net/
it brushes, rolls or sprays on and can be done in multiple coats. perhaps spraying the whole container with a few layers of this stuff would cut down the noise...
doesn't make much sense. that's a huge cost for really...no gains. those setups were designed for vechiles that did not have turbochargers in mind at all for their cars. In those cars there is no room in the enigne bay for a turbo and al lthe piping. Fortunatley, with supras they had turbos on...
wow! what wicked results! this is very encouraging for my 7m-ge project.
what kind of dyno was it?
any plans on taking the car to the drag strip? it would be great to see some numbers from there aswell.
I anxiously await your dyno video and graph. DIEING to hear a modified 7mge at wide open...
