Last night I installed a new gasket on my shifter, it's the red one in this pic:
and the 4 bolts were not holding the plate all the way, there was a 1-2 mm gap I could push down on and it would spring back up when I let go.
I just kept torquing the bolts but the gap wouldn't close, one bolt...
So I have a block that has been bored/honed .020 over, a crank that was polished, stock rods that were balanced and npr pistons that were balanced.
The machine shop says the cylinders were all bored the same and that my npr pistons were all mic'd the same and therefore the order does not...

I just noticed my main caps are scratched up.. Either they were like that when my engine was running or the machine shop did something weird but here they are. Finger nail catches so I figured it had to be an issue.
Going to install them tonight after class and had some qq's.
What is permatex #4? I've searched google and the permatex site and nothing comes up.
Is the plug under the timing plate supposed to be in backwards? What's the proper way to get it out, I was thinking drilling a hole and prying...

I bought em from a member and it didn't come with lower bolts. The ones that were on before don't fit these newer ones.

I have the orange engine hoist from Harbor Freight and I'm not happy with it.
I have to jack my car about a foot for it clear underneath and come in from the side with the tire in between its supports. I then literally climb in my engine bay and stand(yes stand) on my transmission to lower it...
I bought a orange soldering iron from Harbor Frieght a while ago and it's never been able to get the wires I'm soldering hot enough to melt the solder on it.
I've been "bubble" soldering with it since I got it by melting the bead on the iron then rubbing it on but it's really been a hassle...
