I've done a lot of things with this engine I really didn't understand, until sometime later. This is one of those things.
We machined the shim bucket (some call them lifters) bores to accept the 2000 and up Toyota Echo shimless bucket. Why??? The cams have such a radical lift they will "spit"...

Here is a formula if anyone wants to figure runner length. 97000 / peak rpm (goal HP @? rpm). IE: 300hp @ 5900 rpm--- 97000/5900= a runner length of 16.4 inches. Do we have any flow numbers on these diferent intake setups? What looks good may not be good at all..
I ran one on my Gallant VR4. It had that headace making drone also. I replaced it with a DTM style muffler and picked up 3psi. So I wouldn't say it is a good choice for turbo cars.
