standalone ofcourse would be the best. Or you can use mapecu and throw afm away. I have gt35 and mapecu2 now and run on 17.4 psi. The car runs very well and no fuelcut.
You should get something to controll boost and feul with.
Its up to you really. Transmissionbolt are really timetaking. I hate them. Allso you have to line up the enginge to get it the splines in when re-installing. and then you have all this "remove the fan/clutch/radiator/power steering/ a/c,"
1-2 hours.. for all this??

ok. I hooked up according to AEM manual for ext-w-gate. Maybe its just my spring. It worked fine on 40mm w-gate but not on 50mm. Seller said it works with both. Maybe its mapecu bugging. I just see now it works with a stronger spring.

Not sure what you refer to. I have port 1 to vacum pressure and port 2-top side of can. I also have same dimentions on hoses and on w-gate ports.
Sound like we have same set up on vacumlines. Its strange.. Maybe i have som error somewhere but I sure have not found it. It was only when I changed to a stronger spring that the problem was solved. Do you have gt35? One theori I had was gt35 build more exhaust pressure then other turbos?
5psi was no problem . It was at higher boost wg flew open.. 13psi. I put plumbing under pressure and all wacum-lines to solenoid (AEM) and w-gate, and found no leakage at all. Allso disambeled w-gate (brand new) and found no error there.
I can add some more info on gt35. My 5psi spring was too weak. It opened at 13psi even with EBC programmed for higher psi.. and regardless of duty. I changed to 12psi spring and the boost was rock solid and back on 18 psi.
Just wanted to chare info so no one wastes time for nothing.
I had no problem with my 40mm wastegate at first, but at higher boost and rpm (6000 and 18psi).. it could not evacuate enough exhaust and boost took off way too fast. Building 50mm wastegate now. this is with gt3582r
i have a europe mk3 with oem ecu and rebuilt enginge. (not sure of difference with us ecu) . I am driving with 1.2bar without egr and no problem. I dont think its a big risk to blow your engine.
I cannot get the external w-gate setting in mapecu2 working. I have a common AEM solenoid. No matter how i hook it up and what kind of dutycycle i have, nothing will happen i external wastegate mode (will not build pressure or activate solenoid) . I can get it to respond and work in internal...
i would not use it. Its very small compressor match to the turbine. These kind of dieselturbos work well for its intended use.. but its nothing for 7m in my opinion. All the money and effort is better to put on a working turbo.
