i dunno.. honestly i could be on cloud 9 on this one.. rod knock scares me because i got it, and i am totally paranoid now that no matter what i do or how much i pay to have machine work done or how careful i am during assembly that somehow the smallest particle of dust is going to get in my...
quotes would be helpful to keep things at least understandable when hijacking a thread ;)
anyway, lots of people get a boner over royal purple.. personally i don't get it.. maybe it really is great amazing stuff, but so what? consistent oil changes (on time) with quality synthetic...
the issue isn't the bearings, it is the rings seating properly.. synthetic is too slick and wont let the rings put the proper pressure on the cylinder walls for them to seal.
i see many references saying that the rings seat like 80% within the first 20-40 miles and the rest over the rest of the...
maybe i should wait a few months for the next ailment to start.. i do NOT want BHG ;)
ummm.. i don't really know what IJ is going to say, but i would go with Valvoline Max Life Synthetic here..
but i'm biased because my dad worked for the parent company of Valvoline for 22 years :D
lol IJ
i didnt mean it negatively.. just that this must be like the 4th time in the last week or two this has come up :D
trust me it is good advice, as i hope to be using it in a 2-3 weeks when i start my car again for the first time.
if i have had one thing beaten into my skull (by IJ) in the past 2 weeks on this forum, its the content of this thread. seems like it keeps showing up over and over lol
IJ is going to tell you that you should use straight 30W with no friction modifiers or fancy additives in order for the rings to seat properly.
but i just beat him to it ;)
oh i was just going from the sizes listed as available on HPF and 935 websites.. i guess i can just call wherever i decide to order from and tell them what i want? or do i have to go to cometic direct? either way they are made to order and i have to wait i guess...
thanks
sigh i have buzzing like this too.. like at a stop light with the brakes pressed.. kind of annoying. bzzz zzz.zz.zzzz.zz.zzz.
i really dont want to spend money on a new TC when all i really want is to spend money (later) on a swap...........
yay i love resurecting threads for fun.
anyway, i am trying to understand what i am about to get into.. looking at cometic MHGs i see stock 83mm and then oversized 84 and 86mm bores...
i want to bore only .5mm over (.020") but can i do this with these choices of gasket bore sizes? i...
Hey i searched for Eristitc and you're the only hit..
How have they held up so far? anything to report?
probably not much after such a short time, but since you are the only hit for it on SM, i have to ask :)
thanks
Wow theres a lot of you guys down there..
my parents live in Lexington and I am down that way a few times a year.. only had the supra there once though. I'd come if I were there! :D
i'll be there too :D
now i just have to concentrate on finishing my car.... it's looking more and more like i am going to just take it to sound performance and have them do the machine work and assembly... lots of local shops talk confident and cocky like they can do it, but i just don't feel...
hmm this is kind of interesting... esp since you used the stock boost gauge
i would like to note for clarification to anyone reading.. it looks like that write up was in russian or whatever at that part.. "på ca 4,7 µF" ... and most (all?) of europe tends to use commas where we use periods in...
i didn't mean to suggest that you dont know what youre talking about.. just that you were making some pretty aggressive claims without backing it up.
you're saying exactly what im saying if you refer to my last post.. i just don't feel the need to qualify the difference to people that don't...
before you get started i want you to know that i am using the term RMS power interchangably with AVERAGE POWER or AVERAGE SINE WAVE POWER... even though its not really the same
the term RMS power is in fact a misnomer, but its become such comonplace in the audio market that theres no use in...
