the door moldings on my 87 were really easy to replace. i bought both for around $200 and removed the pieces of the old ones very easily too.
open the door and locate the nut near the door hinge that is holding the molding on... remove the nut, carefully remove the old door molding.
clean...
not only did the "fill-up tube thing" give me problems when trying to drop the tank, it made the re-assemble a huge pain in the butt.
i hope your reason for removing the tank is a good one.
For some strange reason, my car likes to stall or idle very very low when I start my car on a hill. Even small inclines, the car has this problem.
