What are the pros and cons of pre and post 89 ecu's? I know you you have to use the same year as your car but I'm just curious.

Here's the story. I have the maftpro speed density. With the stock o2 sensor UNplugged I don't get a code 21? With it plugged it it doesn't change anything. When I unplug it for PTT it doens't throw the heater circuit code how could this be? And with it unplugged I still get a VF voltage...
