Depending on the application(greasy,mudy,dusty)..For a nasty oilly engine, I just rinse, and bombard with degreaser and metal BBQ bushes(for the block or area that wont scratch). Otherwise its just basically soap and water with an array of different chemicals(gypsy tears), brushes,sponges...

On a supra, in the rear i wouldn't imagine you would feel much of a difference because of the way the car is built, however on say a celica or something tincanny like that it would feel stiffer. x2 on pictures though
