Considering the the shock load is damn near straight up and down I really don't think it matters....I wouldn't preload it at all considering it won't be of any use...just put it on and enjoy the placebo!
Forget a rebuild just buy a new one from a2motorsports for like $40...it's original oem toyota parts....your make a small problem very very complicated.

What black plastic thing you talking about? Is it the radio trim thing with the hazzard light switch? If so you just take out the screws and pull and I like to put the gear shift in 4th to give me clearance..
That is a very stupid idea!!! People like you fail and help others fail....the usdm ecu is map'd for egr and it gives better gas milage also it helps prevent detonation at low loads and cruise...you run an egr-less motor on a usdm ecu you can royally fuck a motor!
