You're going to have to reset the BIOS. You have to open the case and either remove the BIOS battery from the motherboard or bridge the jumpers if they are there. It can be delicate work on a laptop, if you have doubts about it take it to a professional.
Changing pistons seems unnecessary to me. If the problem is burning oil then you probably have a bad seal or ring somewhere in the engine. I don't see how your pistons could be causing the problem after only 300 miles.
I agree with DonS1mpson on this one. I would much rather build the motor myself than trust an anonymous donor motor. That way I know exactly what I'm getting. Besides, rebuilding the motor isn't that expensive if you do the work yourself. Why wouldn't you pay the extra for a brand new motor...
