perhaps the gear itself did not mesh properly with the gear on the cam? Maybe try pulling the CPS out and slightly moving the gear?

If I had access to both I would run the 7M. I am not a big fan of revving really high and I want as smooth an engine as possible. I would also run the newer style block.

I know. This is what I am talking about. My IC pipes are done in ceramic chrome. They are shiny but when compared to proper chrome plating, there is a significant difference. I still prefer the look of the ceramic though.

What JDub does is ceramic coating. While ceramic does have excellent thermal properties, it doesn't give the kind of shine that chrome will.
