Not from what I can tell, the jumper harness is required, none of the 7m body harness connectors will plug into the 1J engine harness. You could cut off the 7M connectors from the body harness & wire the corresponding 1J clips to your body harness, but you would have to do the soldering under...
Looks great Grim! What is you end goal? Are you sticking with your 57trim CT or are you jumping up from there? I ask because you're dropping in 550's & the the stock injectors should be fine with your current turbo. Just curious...
From what I understand, the ECU is mounted in the stock location, but with the electrical plugs pointed towards the steering wheel. When you make your jumper harness, make them at least 12" (Aaron, please correct me if I'm wrong). Jayson made mine 16" just to be certain....
I bought the new lightened flywheel from 935 motorsports. It's a nice unit as far as I can tell. It looks to have been balanced & it seems to fit perfectly. So far (without driving with it), I'm very pleased with it....
Note: If you decide to replace the pilot bearing, got to a parts...
Here's the infamous hole. Let me add that there is a wiring harness right behind the place that you'll drill through, so look to see if it will be in your way. Mine wasn't, but don't assume...

Hole drilled into firewall....
Also note, I bought a 2" holesaw. It should be a little bigger than required, I'll post later if that's true or not. Make sure that when you buy your holesaw that it is made for metal, not just wood.
Edit, I attached a picture of the portion ot the engine...
'Tis is true. Not only do I have to complete my swap & get the bugs worked out, I have to move all of my household goods......By next Thursday. Jayson has become very detrimental very quickly. I need to give Aaron a huge pat on the back for all of his work too, he too has come through for me...
Hindsight 20/20 tells me that the 1J swap isn't a hassle at all, just costs some coin to do it right, IMO. With that said, the motor goes in today & I'm hoping to fire it up tonight, so I'll hold some reservations until I'm completed...
I'm (hopefully) drilling the hole tomorrow, if not Wednesday. I'll take pics & post them. The "hole" has been a mystery for too long....
If you choose to extend the harness in order to go through the stock location, the knock sensors would have to be rewired because of the added length. If...
N/P at all. You should think about making jumper harnesses. That way, it there is a problem, it WILL be in your jumper harness, and you can disconnect it, pull it out in the open & work on it. Otherwise, you'll be bent over backwards in the foot well trying to troubleshoot it. That is FTL...
Speedo cable hole FTW! Actually, I'm drilling another hole per Aarons advice. He's done one or two, so I think his advice is fairly solid. :biglaugh:
Something you might have considered, maybe not, is that when you extend the harness, you have to rewire the shield wires (knock sensors)...
