if water gets between the crank and pulley you can get corrosion that will make it stick. I'd try PB blaster and maybe a propane torch ot head up the gear so it comes off easier. I used a flat head screw driver as a wedge to get mine off. best of luck.
the valve cut outs on the pistons are larger than they need to be which make a weak point where they like to crack. If you got money for a standalone why not spend the extra 300-400 for proven pistons. I'm not trying to hate just pointing out some have had issues with probe and pistons are not...

Or the Unit has failed because of foreign object being in there years. ABS systems can be a real pain the bleed and if it's been exposed to the open air for a long time could easily have lots of issues.
