Is it the pick up tube on the oil pump that isnt long enough? That's what ive heard. Idle at about 4psi is normal correct? I just check my oil basically before I start it... every single time I drive it.
I saw that you said the wiring harness is in kinda bad shape, I suggest you go through that thing once you have it off or the engine out and make sure everything looks good. I had problems with both knock sensors on start up when I swapped in the turbo motor. I am still finding little messed up...
Ha yeah picked up this one for 800 too. I only used it for the engine and driveline + comp. etc.... I had a ge with the w58 and besides the head gasket I never had a problem but this wiring harness sucks!! I dont have much money or time either because of school and cross country so thats no good.
oh what a shitty day.... I woke up with my sinuses clogged halfway around my head, then I realized my alarm clock was not beeping like usual. hmm.. turns out it was 7:21 am. School starts at 7:30, So I get ready in record time and dash to my car, everything is good idles fine so I head down the...
Ha ha yeah i dont think i would be in anyones memories from back in the day, im still pretty damn young compared to most guys on this site.... i think!
Owatonna ya say... they have a damn good cross country team!! Dont know if you know anything about that stuff ... its just that i run cross...
On another note....... last night i drove with a bunch of guys to Red Wing for a high school football game and my car was doing its B.S. idle garbage with the check engine light on. It happened when the engine was cold too! On the way home it was much worse, it would not stay running at idle...
Yeah the only time it does it is when im up to temp. Also the most common times are when its real hot and muggy out. This cool weather we have been having has been keeping my car running great!! Do you think any type of insulation wrap could be used kinda like the ones for the cold half of the...
yeah ill keep that in mind. Im extremely short on money right now and the electronics have not acted up in probably almost a week now. Thanks alot though and i will let ya know!
Ha ha yeah he's pretty much a supra jedi lol!! I was trying to search one out earlier this summer because I also thought that it couldve been the issue, but you just dont see these cars in junkyards up here so hopefully i can get my paws on one!!
Hey guys, just kinda wondering if anyone has had this same issue at all.... I put a 7m-gte in my originally ge car and it ran pretty well after fixing a small issue with the rear knock sensor. After about a week I kept getting afm codes and my car would run like crap at idle. So figgie came over...
WOW!! unfortunately tomorrow is the first day of school for us youngins but on ly ONE year left:evil2: otherwise i would be up all night reading all of these pages!! I happen to have a rebuilt 7mge and w58 and have been very interested in putting them safely into an mk2!! If you havent already...
K so what your saying here is that the ignitor on the ge model can control the timing, although it has a distributor?? I was sure this only could work with the coil pack system....... due to the fact that you can change the timing yourself with the distributor>> please elaborate :) and where...
Hey i was reading about how the knock sensor issue will throw a code 52 and retard timing and the question came to mind: how is it gonna retard the timing on a distributed engine?? I know it will do it on the turbo model (experience) but how on the N/A?
couple questions: When you do this do you use the gte ecu as well as the harness?
How do you get around the knock sensors because the gte has 2, one in back and one in front... so what do you do to not get a code?
How would you set up the turbo intake pipe with the 4 vacuum hoses (1=bov)
