Ok, when I returned home tonight, I let the engine cool off with the hood up for a few minutes and then checked it. There was a small cloud of white smoke coming from the are of the DP which is what was suggested before. I checked the dipstick, and it seemed to indicate a close to normal oil...
My oil question is really vague, so I don't expect any definitive answers. I'm just looking for some general guidance. I know for a while that the oil pan seal has been leaking, but it's been so little that it's not worth fixing right now. It was needing an extra quart each month or so. Now...
Thanks for the input guys. I talked with someone at the shop I was considering today. He said they don't have a dyno. Now, I'm no tuning genius, but I thought you would HAVE to have a dyno to tune a Supra with an AFC. Am I wrong? I suppose I should look elsewhere?
Oh, and to whomever...
I have an '87 turbo Supra. There's not much in the way of engine mods. The wastegate is shimmed to around 9-10 lbs of boost. I have a SAFC2 installed, but it's not doing anything except for monitoring right now. I may have found a shop in my area that can tune it with a dyno and all the...
Well, it wasn't leaking on the plastic part. I used some JB weld to patch it. It worked, but of course it just started leaking a few inches over. Oh well, I'm off to radiator.com.
Ok, some of you were right. I patched the radiator, and it's leaking somewhere else now. Oh well, so I'm looking into maybe getting a OEM replacement. I've seen some offers of limited lifetime warranties. Can I get some guidance? What's a good online store? Is there a catch to the lifetime...
PWR's website lists the radiator for the MK3 at $840. Is this correct, or is that Australian currency or something. That seems like an astronomical amount to pay for a radiator.
Thanks for the info, Shaeff and Grim. I think I'll try to patch this first, if it keeps leaking, I'll get a Fluidyne, PWR, or Griffin. Any recommendations or preferences?
That's all well and good with aftermarket replacements, but is it a pain to remove the stock radiator to repair it? That's probably what I'll do since there's nothing else wrong with it for now.
I have a radiator that is leaking at the top. It appears as if it's leaking where the cap is on the top. Not the cap that you open to fill it, but the whole cap that goes the width of the radiator. It's just barely too hard to get to from the front of the car. I'm wondering how difficult it...
Ok, that's good to know. I figured they knew their stuff, and I was excited to know there was a Toyota specialist in the area. I guess I'll just stick to SUPRA specialists like you guys. Thanks again.
That's ok, I believe you.
I had more before the crash too, but not many.
Thanks for the offer on the help too. It's nice to have a local guy or two to call on if I'm in a bind.
So, why the bad feelings about Protoy? Have you had a bad experience yourself, or was it someone you know?
Thanks for the offer, Drake. I'll keep you in mind for the future. I'm not planning on anything major any time soon, but it's nice to know I have a local to call on if I'm in a bind. I'll PM you if I need some help some time.
