Thanks Supraguy! Will do! I separated the motor and tranny yesterday, but now I'm in need of a impact gun that has better torque than my 350 ft-lbs gun. I can't take the crank pulley bolt off just yet, once that's off I can get the motor on a stand and start the real work!

Got the motor out the other day! Thinking it'll be more time effective and cheaper if I could use my GE block. It's all disassembled. I'd have to get it honed and fitted with new pistons. My question is would it be OK to use my GE block with the GTE head and electronics???

Head studs are all that's in my way right now. They are tight as hell! Tomorrow I'm going to find a allen head socket that can fit the inverted hex on the studs. Then it should be out!!!

Yeah I'm Hoping it's nothing too major. And when the car was running it was running at normal temperature. For the compression test I cranked it about 4 times, all spark plugs out. Throttle was closed though. Now I'm struggling with taking the head off the block. I have all 12pt. bolts off...

Yup, I've got the head sequence memorized! Should I loosen the bolts in 3 steps as to torquing them ?

Since doing to compression test I've started pulling apart the motor to remove the head. I'm hoping the only damage done is a bad valve, since i saw some oil leaking thru the ex manifold. I'm shooting to take the head off while the motor it in the car. Oh and the studs have a little hex on top. Would I have to remove all the studs once i get the bolts off to get the head out?
